Let's go back to 1985, when I was a feisty teen still in high school...


With a passion for animals and horses, I decided to pursue a career in the racing industry—working in stud and stable practices. Landing my first role at a local raceway seemed like the ideal place to start. My mentor was both impressed and surprised by my enthusiasm and hunger to learn more. 


But, before I could take this career any further, I had a fall from my quarter horse. 


The impact resulted in me fracturing three of my lower back vertebrae and sustaining extensive bruising to my muscles, joints and tissue surrounding my spine. Walking was excruciating, standing unbearable, and I couldn't handle laying in the same position for too long, which made sleeping almost impossible. 

Stronger & More Resilient

I saw many medical practitioners. All came to the same conclusion—I was lucky to be walking and would not ride horses again or have children naturally due to my injuries. I was devastated. Riding gave me a sense of freedom and belonging—it was all I wanted to do, and I certainly wanted a family someday.


Feeling emotionally crushed and mentally exhausted from the daily pain, I pushed myself to find a solution. I wanted to ride again, and I wanted children naturally. No doctor was going to tell me otherwise. So, I set out to build a stronger, more resilient version of myself. 


After what seemed like eons of rehabilitation—rest, recovery and then exercise, exercise and more exercise, eating nutritious meals and regularly seeing a chiropractor—I got back on my horse. Slowly my movement increased, along with my stamina.


Gradually, I regained my former abilities.


Fast forward eighteen months, and my hard work paid off. I landed my dream job as a track rider and stud-stable hand in a world-class racing stable. My pain was still there, but far less than it had been. Riding furthered my rehabilitation process, and I felt fitter and healthier than ever. 

In Search Of Wellness

I left the racing industry several years later while pregnant with my first child. My son was born full-term and naturally. Defying doctors, I then went on to have two more beautiful babies. Though it was manageable, my pain followed me through all my pregnancies. 


Wanting to know more about natural pain management, I went to university and studied communication to learn more about combating mine and other injuries. My hunger for health and wellness answers only grew, and the more I knew, the more I wanted to share with others. 


Two years into my university degree, I founded InShapeNews, an alternative health & wellness news site. The site grew in popularity, so by the time I finished my Bachelor's Degree, hundreds of thousands of people had visited.


Wanting to know more about the human body, I then went on to become a personal trainer, completing both Certificates III & IV in Fitness and a Nutritional Advisor certification. 


In my 40s, my back, neck and sciatica pain increased, along with muscle and ligament soreness. This pain I put down to aging, so I went in search of more answers, which led to me trying and testing many methods to alleviate my pain. Some worked, others failed. Around this time, I also started studying for a Public Health Master Degree as the drive to help others overcome their health and wellness challenges grew.


Supporting You

Today, I'm a fit, active, healthy 50+-year-old professionally certified health and wellness coach who lives a full life. I'm a rally official, co-driver and driver who gets up at ridiculous o'clock to walk my dogs, workout and swim. I eat nutritiously, visit my chiropractor monthly and strive to move more to be the best version of myself daily. 


It's taken me a long time to understand who I am, how my body works and how I can live pain-free and confidently do the activities I love without hurting. Now I want to help you do the same.
